FAQ
This section will continue to grow each time you come up with new and clever questions, so if you feel there is something missing or worth mentioning here, feel free to drop us an email!
You're not producing and selling Audio-CDs of your releases, why is that and what is an "Album"?
That's true, we're not producing and selling Audio-CDs. Our replacement product we're offering in our store is called "Album" and is a 15x15 cm pysical in your hands folio companion to the music you collect, all printed in high quality on fine paper. Each album will contain a unique download code for the music, accessible by smartphone scan, tablet device, or computer– the absolute best MP3 file available (320 kbps). So if you purchase your new Album at a concert or at a Record Store, you will be able to hear it before you leave the parking lot! And we guarantee that our MP3 downloads will be of greater audio quality than any other versions available on the Internet. The Album, plus the best in digital download, equals the return to the "full" musical experience.
If you care for something haptic, for something to touch and hold in your hands, or to explore while leaning back, listening to the music, then the Album is for you. And it will fit nicely amongst your books. Wait– you do still have books! Well, if you care for the kind of qualities we’ve mentioned, you probably do.
You can read about the "Album" in our statement
in this news article.
Can I buy your music in the form of digital downloads from Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, etc. ?
Yes, our music will also be available at international download and streaming portals. You will find all of our already published music by the end of January 2012 at your favourite places around the internet.
When I buy from your website, why can I only choose PayPal as payment method ?
We're just starting to stell stuff. For the time being, it's only possible for our customers to pay using PayPal. But PayPal itself offers a lot of different payment options to their users, including several credit cards. We are planning to add more payment options to our own site in the near future.
I can listen to some songs on your website which are not available for sale. Why is that?
We also made available some demo tracks and yet unreleased tracks of our artists. Sometimes releasing an album takes a long time, so we decided to make the wait worthwhile. If you subscribe to our newsletter our join our
facebook page, you will be notified when certain releases become available for sale.
The embedded music player on your releases pages does not work in my browser, what should I do?
We are using the latest SoundCloud Player for embedding songs and playlists in our website. This player uses the new HTML5 technology, so we don't have to use
Flash anymore. Some old browsers may not work with HTML5, so you might want to think about installing a newer version. Alternatively, you can listen to the tracks on our
SoundCloud page itself. By the way, with HTML5 our website works also perfectly on mobile phones and handheld devices like iPad and IPhone. We had it tested ;)
What is a HQ-MP3 ?
High-Quality MP3. We know our music by heart, and we know what it's supposed to sound like; HQ-MP3's allow for you to hear our music in it's purest, highest-quality format. We use the latest LAME codec to encode our tracks and produce them in 320 kbps to give you the best possible sound quality.
Do you have retail distributors in North America and Great Britain ?
Not yet, but we're currently working on establishing a retail network. We will keep you posted.
Can I buy your vinyls at my local record store?
Sorry, but we're an indie label in every sense of the word. As you might have noticed, the music business is undergoing a lot of changes, and will most likely continue to do so in the near future. Our music will be released in different formats, and we are planning to have physical copies available in select record shops around the globe. You will soon find a list of retailers at our website.
I have a record store. Can I order directly from you?
Yes, you can. Please contact us via email at and send us information about your store and we would be happy to get in touch with you.
Do you ship to North America?
Yes, we will ship all of our music, merch, posters, prints etc. to any destination in the world. Even if you live in Svalbard or Antarctica, we will find a way to get our products to you.
How can I get signed to your label?
We are very humbled that you would consider us to be your record label; however, please DO NOT send any mp3s or soundfiles to our email. You can use our SoundCloud dropbox via our contact tab at the upper right corner of the website, or send an email with a link to your songs/website to , and we will make sure that we give you a listen.
I am a filmmaker, can I use your music in my film ?
All requests need to be approved by Butterfly Collectors. If your film or video is a non-commercial project, you might use our music for free, but you would still need to contact us to get a legal license and to talk about proper artist credits. In the event that you're a student at an art school or film academy and would like to use our music for a non-public presentation, just go ahead and use it, but think about sending us a link or a copy so that we can watch it, too.
If you're considering our music for a commercial TV or cinema production, please get in touch with us via
